Medicaid

Medicaid is a federal and state government program that pays for medical services, including long term care in a nursing home, an assisted living facility, or in a private residence in the community.  It is administered by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. To receive Medicaid assistance, you must meet financial eligibility requirements. Also, you must need a high enough "level of care".

Medicaid eligibility rules are complicated.  Before taking steps you don't fully understand, you should get individualized legal advice.  You can contact the Idaho Senior Legal Hotline at 1-866-345-0106.

Individuals apply for Medicaid assistance at the Department of Health and Welfare office.  For more information on Medicaid, visit www.cms.hhs.gov on the web.
