My opinion is that the agency is very active in our area and helps seniors to obtain a wide variety of services through volunteers and through referring to other agencies where appropriate. They sincerely wish to help seniors in our counties.

The Area Agency on Aging of North Idaho (AAANI), located in Coeur d’Alene, is one of six Area Agencies in Idaho. It is part of a nationwide aging network created through the Older Americans Act. Each of the Area Agencies has a volunteer commissioner appointed by the governor through the Idaho Commission on Aging (ICOA). Our commisioner is Ms. Carey Spears of Sandpoint, Idaho. The focus of the AAANI is on helping people stay independent and contributing members of their community. We also offer adult protective services to Kootenai, Bonner, Boundary, Benewah and Shoshone Counties. Hours of operation: M-F 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Our mission is to work in partnership with older adults, families and the community to secure information and services that maximize independence and quality of life. We value the community support that helps seniors stay in their home, caregivers who make a difference, volunteers who give so our community can be a better place to live, safety and autonomy, consumer choice, and partners that help us make it all work. For more information, see a copy of our area plan [PDF].
The Area Agency on Aging receives federal funding through the Administration of Aging and is distributed through the Idaho Commission on Aging (ICOA). Revenue and Expenditures can be found in our annual report [PDF].
Make A Donation
We want to be able to give assurance to our elders that the Area Agency on Aging truly is “where you go for answers on aging”. Unfortunately, the number of elders asking for help exceeds available resources. Donations can make a difference in community support for our seniors. Donate online. Aging Services for North Idaho Endowment
In the spring of 2011 the Area Agency on Aging established a partnership with Inland Northwest Community Foundation. The Foundation works with potential donors and manages the Aging Services for North Idaho endowment investments and distributions. The intent is to create an endowment large enough for interest earnings to fill in the gaps of unmet needs and assist North Idaho in developing new programming as needs change from one generation to another.
