Agency-Sponsored Services
Adult Protective Services (APS) – Staff investigate reported cases of abuse, neglect or exploitation of vulnerable adults. Do you have concerns about someone whom you feel is a vulnerable adult? Case Management – Licensed social workers assist elderly adults in obtaining services to maintain their maximum level of health, safety, and independence at home. The Case Manager evaluates the needs of the client and together they implement a plan to help the client with their activities of daily living. Information and Awareness – Provides the general public with information and referrals to a wide range of community resources and assists in connecting them to programs and services. If you would like more information about this service, contact us at infoassist@aaani.org.
Nursing Home and Assisted Living Ombudsman – Advocate for clients and problem solvers who receive, investigate, mediate, and resolve complaints registered on behalf of individuals having problems with nursing homes and residential care facilities. Options Counseling – Long-term care options counseling is a process whereby older people and/or their families are supported in their deliberations to determine appropriate long-term care choices. Programs or services provided by outside agencies or service providers.
Meals – Enjoy hot, fresh prepared meals in a friendly social setting. Cost to seniors 60 years and older is on a suggested donation basis. Contact your local nutrition provider for meal times and days.
Transportation – Public transportation provided in specified rural areas with curb to curb service and wheelchair accessibility. Cost to seniors aged 60 years and older: Suggested donation basis. Click here [PDF] for information on transportation in your area.
Legal Assistance – Legal services provided by Idaho Legal Aid (208-667-9559) at no cost to low income seniors aged 60 years or older. Services include guardianships, probate, Medicaid eligibility, Social Security benefits. See Idaho Legal Aid Services for more information.
Home Supports
Requests for supports in the home with the following services must be approved by an Area Agency on Aging case manager. Please contact AAA Information & Awareness for more information.
Home Delivered Meals – For homebound seniors, aged 60 years and older, who are unable to leave the home without assistance and have difficulty preparing meals, up to 7 meals per week may be delivered to the home. Meals may be hot or frozen. *Cost to seniors 60 years and older: suggested donation basis. Click here to locate the Home Delivered Meal program closest to you.
Homemaker Services – For seniors, aged 60 years and older, this service provides light housekeeping to help keep individuals independent and safe in their homes. Service includes such tasks as cleaning floors, bathroom and kitchen, laundry, bill paying, etc. Standby assistance with bathing is also available.
Respite – Respite provides a short “break” in the daily routine for a family caregiver doing 24/7 care of a loved one. Volunteer seniors will sit with the loved one for a few hours each week to allow the caregiver an opportunity to take care of themselves. This service is provided at no cost.
Family Caregiver Respite – Respite is provided at no cost by skilled caregivers in the home, at adult day centers, and skilled nursing facilities for overnight stays. This respite program allows caregivers to be away from home for longer periods of time to visit family, enjoy a vacation, or simply to cover the cost of respite service in short increments over a period of several weeks or months.
Nutritional Counseling – Older Adults who are at risk of not receiving proper nutrition may be referred for Nutritional Counseling. Six sessions covering cooking for one or two, food safety, meal planning, and more are provided at no cost.
