North Idaho College sponsors the Area Agency on Aging and is responsible for fiscal and human resource management functions. Additionally, a student service learning project is coordinated each spring semester through the School of Nursing.
ICOA Oversees and distributes the funding for our agency
Maximize the independence, well-being, and health of older adults, people with disabilities across the lifespan, and their families and caregivers.
SHIBA informs seniors about benefit programs and provides information on eligibility for help paying for prescription drugs and monthly Medicare Part B premiums.
Senior Medicare Patrols (SMPs) empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report health care fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling, and education.
Idaho Department of Health & Welfare works closely with the Area Agency on Aging of North Idaho. Programs and units include Bureau of Facility Standards, Regional Medicaid Unit and the Developmental Disabilities Program.
Nutrition Providers
Seniors can enjoy hot, fresh prepared meals in a friendly social setting. Cost to seniors 60 years and older is on a suggested donation basis. Contact your Local nutrition provider for meal times and days.
The Area Agency on Aging, as an Aging and Disability Resource Center, works closely with DAC on eligibility services, and referral protocol. For more information contact them by calling 1-800-854-9500.

County Councils
Staff and members of the County Councils on Aging meet with local Boards of County Commissioners twice each year. The goal is to keep commissioners informed of issues that affect seniors in their county. If you would like to serve on a County Council on Aging, please complete the Application for Membership Form.
The 2-1-1 Idaho CareLine, a free statewide community Information & Referral service, is a program of the Department of Health & Welfare. The AAA is a partner, with our resource database available on the 2-1-1 website.
